The Past, Present and Future

The Past, Present and Future.

Consort MD David Ryan, founded the company in 1992, primarily selling refurbished printing machinery.  The company’s aim was in the title, to be a guide or escort for our customers through the sourcing, supplying, and delivery of quality machinery within budget.

The same ethos was employed when we recognised the requirement to keep pace with our clients and offer new machinery with new technology. We began to research the market and to source new equipment, preferably directly from manufacturers. This search ultimately led the company to Sakurai Graphic Systems Corporation - the third largest manufacturer of printing presses in Japan also renowned for their comprehensive support services.

We have been the exclusive agents for Sakurai in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland since 2000. From slow beginnings, installations increased and by the year 2007 we had installed 55 Sakurai presses in Ireland. Due to this phenomenal success David was approached and appointed to head-up the UK office as Branch Manager of Sakurai with total responsibility for the UK, Ireland and European agents.

Throughout the last 16 years David has gained huge experience in creating and providing solutions, in brokering deals and simply “making things happen” for clients. Along the way, solid friendships have been formed, milestones achieved and endearing professional relationships maintained, especially through some very difficult times for the industry.

Following a highly successful and extended seven-year stint with Sakurai UK, David is now back in Ireland and writing a new chapter in the continuing Consort story. The original aim of the company has not changed - we actively work very closely with our clients to help achieve their ambitions, only now with additional new and exciting products and a much wider customer base in Ireland and UK.
